Bristol Orbit Club was founded by 4 ex-members of Bristol Rotaract Club in 1980. Prospective members should be over 35. We are a very friendly group who meeting twice a month (1st and 3rd Mondays) at the Llandoger Trow Pub in King Street Bristol to organise social events. Our membership fee is £5 a year. There is no pressure to join right away.
SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Bristol Orbit Club organises lots of social events for members with regular Theatre, Cinema and concert visits, walks, meals out and twice monthly Monday meetings at the Llandoger Trow (not August).
During the summer we like to attend a number of outdoor events such as Bristol Harbour Festival and Fireworks displays. We like outdoor drama and usually see several plays during the summer and this year several of us queued up to see Banksy! Phew it was a long queue (see photographs further on)!
Every Spring we organise an Orbit Short Break away and we have enjoyed visits to York, Chester and Aberdovey in Mid Wales. This year we visited Ambleside in the Lake District and met up with friends from Nonsuch Orbit Club.
We also organise Day Out's for the Club during the year such as a trip to Cardiff Docks and Boat Trip up the river, Day out to Stratford-Upon-Avon and a visit to Frankie Howerd's country home in Somerset. We have also visited The Concorde at Filton.
HELPING IN THE COMMUNITY
For a number of years we have run a game of Bingo at Cote Bank House in Henleaze where we provide small prizes. The Manager tells us it is much enjoyed for the residents who attend.
Come along and join us at The Llandoger Trow pub in King Street (opposite the Old Duke pub). Our next meeting will be Monday 16th November 2009 at 8.30pm.
